Ebenezer Scrooge?

Here I Raise My Ebenezer Here by Thy great help I’ve come. I know what you’re thinking and no that’s not a reference to the iconic character Ebenezer Scrooge.  That phrase actually comes from a much cooler story (Sorry Mr. Dickens). Check out 1 Samuel 7; you at least know part of the story. The Israelites are under the attack of the Philistines, and they are in fear for the lives. Sound familiar? The people come to Samuel (you know the prophet who anointed  King Saul and King David) asking him to pray, God hears their prayers, and they win the battle. So at that point, Samuel had what we might today call a “come to Jesus meeting” with the people of Israel. Verse 12 says,  Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, ‘Thus far the Lord has helped us’” Wow! What a simple yet monumental revelation (pun intended). How many times do we get caught up in our circumstances and forget all God has brought us through in the past? Where do you need to raise your Ebenezer?
